Father Was SO Right!

Father Was SO Right!

Ahh… the younger generation… They know SO much, don’t they? Those of us in the older generations really ARE clueless, aren’t we? Of course, we’ve never experienced growing up (not like they have)… We were never tweens or teens before… We were simply born old - what do we know?

Growing up, my dad taught me so much (the never ending list includes educating me about God, manners, morals, managing money, keeping house, family recipes, survival skills, social skills, how to drive, table manners, how to tie my shoes and tell time). He was the one who always came to my bedside when I had bad dreams, and he has always been there for me through every life changing event.

Know what? We all can say the exact same thing about God! What an awesome father He is! Look at all of the examples in the Bible of God’s love for us. For example, John 14:18 says, “No, I will not abandon you as orphans – I will come to you.”

Cornerstone’s SSU program for the youth group (in August) teaches the importance of working on a relationship with the Lord and making the right choices in life; sooner rather than later - versus - putting a great deal of emphasis on trying to catch the eye of the opposite sex, partying, and being negligent of responsibilities. When I learned of the program, I was not only ecstatic that our church offered it, I was a tiny bit sad that such a thing was not offered when I was young.

The more I learn through Cornerstone’s Bible Studies, though, I find that we adults have this delivered to us on a weekly basis. For those who choose to immerse in the vast ministries and events offered through our church: we can benefit in more ways than explainable (as spelled out for us in the book of Isaiah): Isaiah 46:3-4, “…I created you and have cared for you since before you were born. I will be your God throughout your lifetime – until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” Isaiah 46:8-10, “...And do not forget the things I have done throughout history. For I am God – I alone! I am God, and there is no one else like me. Only I can tell you what is going to happen even before it happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.” In addition, the book of Proverbs is an excellent read (learning discipline, good conduct and doing what is right, just and fair), and Proverbs Chapter 4, delivers ‘A Father’s Wise Advice’.

When was the last time you focused on working on any of these issue(s)? When was the last time you talked to God about it? He’s always listening, you know… He’s right next to you… It’s never too late to read His awesome lessons for His children (a.k.a. the Bible!!), reflect and discuss with Him. Go ahead: make Father smile today! He’ll be tickled!

May God bless you and lead you, my friend!
